I have to remember that my blog is not a duty to perform, but a "conversation with those who log on!" I can't help feeling guilty when I get so busy and i am away from my computer that i don't get to keep current with life. It has been three weeks since I did any newsy kind of blogging -- so I am giving you a tour de life to catch up!
I have been super busy with sermon preparation over the past month. With being away at Williamsburg, extra counseling, end of the year meetings and holidays -- I have had to do a alot of prep on the run! i hate that. I like working a little bit each day and then have a solid eight hours on Thursday to finish the manuscript. Dare - thanksgiving is Thursday AGAIN!
We had another baptism at NewSong. I don't know any event that gets spiritual attack more than when we go to baptize people. Between fear, physical struggles or family pressures -- our candidates really go through the crucible!
Pastor Jerry and Robyn Lingenfelter got word that their baby (they are due in March) has a heart defect. The Lingy Baby will have surgery immediately after birth and it is all correctable! They are so grateful for a "mistaken read" sonogram. It flagged the baby and a specialist picked up the problem.
Kris, Alex and I went down to NC for a quick visit with my sister and her family for Turkey Day. Agony...9 1/2 hours on the way down. Two hours inbetween Baltimore and DC -- not fun! Blessing - seeing the fam, going to a Hurricane hockey game and playing 18-holes of golf. Any time you get to swing the sticks past November is a blessing!
I am writing this blog from a hospital room....don't panic -- I am going on a different drug to correct an irregular heart beat and you have to have six doses in the hospital before letting you go home. the drug - tekosyn -- is so expensive and rare that they mail it to you at home! CRAZY! Here is some fun news....if the heart doesn't "convert" -- no joke that is the word they use -- by Tuesday afternoon -- I will have a cardiac aversion. In laymen terms...they will shock my heart with 200-340 volts of current....ssswwweeeetttttt! You thought my hair was wild before!!
Politics is starting to heat up...especially in conversations with other believers. People ask me - so who are you voting for? Obviously anyone but Hillary! But that leaves Christians with an ethical dillemma....do we vote for Rudy...Fred...Mitt -- even if they don't fully believe like we do? And is a vote for Huck really making a difference? Basically, for the primaries - I am for HUCK. There are things I don't agree with him, specifically his spending and very loose fiscal policies. However I like everything else about him....plus he is the best stand up speaker of the bunch! In a perfect world, if Huck could ever convince a democrat like Joe Lieberman to be his VP -- we could do some damage in the general election. But there is a second question -- who can beat Hillary? One name has a shot - RUDY! I am afraid that believers will have to swallow hard in November '08 and vote for someone they are not fully supportive of!
Last bit of news -- looks like the Yankees will be back in full force for 2008....A-Rod is signed...MO is ready to pitch...Posada is behind the plate....now they have to sign Johann Santana and all my Christmas wish list will be completed!
That's all for now! PJM
