I was driving home with our pastors yesterday and trying to sort out this year's presidental race and the mess we are in. For the first time in my life. i might not vote for the President. Since 1980 and the beginning of the Reagan revolution, I have cast a vote for a US President. But with the landscape of this year's candidates, I have no one to vote for.  Obviously Hillary and Obama are not on the radar. Their liberal voiting record not only scares me but I believe that both will set their guns on evangelical churches/christians to put us in our place and true persecurtion will be felt. They could easily make the case that it was evangelical christians that put George Bush in the White House -- and what did that get us?  A war, a sinking economy, division in the nation, and all the rest. I want to say that I have not been pleased with the Presidents performance and we did give him 4.4 million votes....so our disciplining might be warrented.

However, on the Republican side we are in trouble as well.  At this point McCann, Romney and Huckabee are still in the race with a substantial day for McCann this past Tuesday. If the trends continue, McCann will be the candidate. in all good conscience, i can not vote for him. He says that he has reached across the aisle and can bring the nation together.  The problem is he has more than "reached' he has been sitting in the seats across the aisle for a long time. The legislation he has passed has worn away much of what conservative Christians hold as essential. His collaboration of the gang of 14 last year to stop Bush's judges from getting in, was betrayal of his party. He says he has been "pro life" yet some of his actsions and decision raise question marks. Look he considered being John Kerry's running mate -- what is that?

I am greatly disappointed in Huckabee -- he has played right into McCann's hands for political positioning and syphened off conservative votes that probably would have pushed Romney pass McCann.  I can not understand why he is doing that, but he will have to answer for that later.  I think he will be shocked when Rudy is selected for  VP and not Huck!

Finally Mitt Romney is probably the only one i could feel good about. But then again it would a "lesser of..." kind of vote. So what is the alternative?  I think that the divide in the nation and the unsettled political feel in the country has a platform for a three party candidate to emarge this summer and give the two parties a geniune run for the money -- especially if McCann runs. A thoroughly conservative candidate can utterly destory his chances.  But then Hillary or Obama wins? Not necessarily.... I don't think the dems are settled either. I hear many say....a woman? an african-american? Are we really ready for either?  I think it would be great to have either -- by the way Condy Rice gives you both!  But the fact is...I think the whole thing is wide open. So who? I am not sure Condy rice is one; Newt is another; there are a whole alot of others. We wait and watch....
