Recent days I have been amazed by the "anti" Israel speaks in the media. But worst and even more astonishing is  the apathy and lack of understanding of Christians on the importance of supporting and praying for Israel's victry in the Middle East.  Many Christians today understand that Israel is significant in the scriptures and that Israel HAd played a part in God's story.  The fact is Israel is still and forever be a significant aspect of Biblical history and that in the future Israel will again be the center stage of redemptive story.  In addition it is also clear from the Bible that "those who bless Israel, will be blessed." Therefore as a nation we have always taken a VERY pro-Israel stance in all that we in the world. If we are in negotiations between Arab and Israeli leaders, we better be leaning towards the Israeli side of things.  To do so would only be to our peril. A matter of fact, one Biblical scholar has charted what was happening in our country concerning economy, violence and domestic turmoil next to how our national leaders were treating God's people.  Each time the US took positions that were in favor of Arab ideals, we suffered.  Each time we stood for and boldly supported Israel, our nation prospered.   I think we better get ourselves schooled up on how important Israel is in God's eyes and better make sure we  are overtly supportive of the Hebrew people -- or we will pay the price!

I understand where you are coming from, but I have some concerns. First, let me clarify by saying that I have not done much research on this subject; however, can we say that Israel, the current political state, is the same as as Israel, the Biblical nation? Can we say that we unilaterally side with Israel when I read reports like the ones from my Christian missionary friends? (I encourage you to read their blog -it makes more sense to go to the bottom and read "up" in chronological order: http://ryanandheatherlehman.blogspot.com/ ) If you can give me (or post on your blog) some resources to check out, I would be happy to do so! This issue was the only one on your list at the meeting on Saturday that I couldn't say "I agree!" wholeheartedly. In any case, thank you for bringing the issue to our attention, thank you for allowing feedback on the issues, and thank you for making me more interested in this issue (maybe I will have a conversation with my grandfather about this as well as he is very knowledgeable about Israel). Finally, thank you for being a pastor who is not afraid to say what needs to be said. Sometimes truth hurts, but I am glad that we hear it!
