Last night, April 23rd, Dave Ramsey, the Fox Business Network personal financial guru had a nationwide "Town Hall Meeting for Hope" to address the present financial state of our country and give some rock solid counsel on what to do in the midst of this recession. First off -- Ramsey declared that he is not participating in the recession. He also spelled out the financial and economic history of our nation and took time to put what is happening in the country into perspective of what has happened in the five other major economic course corrections in our history. It was excellent. More than anything, I appreciated him hammering away on the issue of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Look, if you stink in business: produce an inferior product, the unions are breaking the profit line or we get fat dumb and lazy -- you should go out of business. We should not reward failures. Also, he made the point that FAILURE is a great motivator to do better and if you keep rescuing those who fail -- they will not get better -- ie: welfare! It was a great evening -- I am glad we hosted it. Our church will be hosting Dave Ramsey's FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY this summer on Wednesday night!
